</sidebar>A JGridstart release is intended for grid authorities, not for end-users. Authorities and grid developers can adapt the configuration and deploy it for their users. The configuration for these releases point to a test certificate authority, and cannot be used to obtain actual access to the grid; please see testing to understand what to do with the links for each release.

jGridstart 1.16 (2014-11-26)

  • Fix bugs:
    • renewal failed when the old certificate was 1024 bits.
  • Improvements:
    • defaults changed to sha256
    • minor improvements in request wizard

  • Allow selection of cryptographic parameters (key size and signature algorithm)
  • Building jGridstart doesn't require custom steps anymore
  • Recent Firefox versions are more strict with security, this is now explained to users
  • Default browser detection on Linux/Unix now understands new desktop environments (using xdg-utils)
  • Default system browser detection with Debian alternatives had bugs, which were fixed
  • Fixed problems with HTML rendering

  • Only allow or suggest to renew a certificate when the CA matches the one jGridstart is connected to.

  • New Java Web Start launching method that should solve signing issues
  • Include splash screen (since startup can take some time)

  • Directory of imported certificates is now contains start of validity date instead of current date (closes bug #0003715)
  • Do not preselect organisation in signup screen to avoid wrong picks (closes bug #0003784)

  • Don't touch non-certificate-related files. This has confused some users previously. (closes bug#0003665)
  • Remove certification level selection for DutchGridCA as it's not used anymore.
  • Add Chromium as recognised web browser.

jGridstart 1.8 (2010-06-21)

  • Make certificate import/export work with directory other than default (closes bug#0003589)
  • Fix jGridstart's HTTP user-agent
  • Improve logging (incl. file copy problem still occurring sometimes on Windows XP)
  • Check if private key belongs to certificate after password was given (import/export and renewal)
  • Update DutchGrid organisation info
  • Finally use an official code-signing certificate

  • Make build process work with JDK5 and JDK6 while still being able to run on JRE5
