Abstract: The ArCLight is a light trap used to capture the scintillation light produced in the detectors of the DUNE. It was however noted that muons crossing the ArCLight also cause scintillation within the ArCLight. In this report we focus on investigating this scintillation caused by muons crossing the ArCLight and count the number of photons that were produced when muons crossed. To achieve this, the project is split up in three parts, making a setup where the only light source is the scintillation within the ArCLight and we can detect a muon crossing the ArCLight, a test to see if any signal originating from the ArCLight is also detected by the SiPM, and measuring the scintillation light. The distribution of light detected at different positions was similar to those found in other works and confirmed that the signals from the ArCLight were detected by the SiPM. Finally, the measurements with the muons crossing the ArCLight was done, but showed far fewer photons than was estimated before. In conclusion, we managed to create a setup that is able to test the ArCLight on cosmic ray muons interactions, but some modifications are required to detect the scintillation light.
