Now ROOT has some tutorials:

And also a user guide which can be helpful references

But they are clearly not very good at introducing people…
Details of the sensors from CLIC, along with some other useful info (SPIDR, Timepix3) is on their twiki:

Task list
- Bring semiconductor laser setup back to life (Robbert, Kevin)
- Measure time delay along columns for Timepix3 (Robbert?)
- Study threshold equalisation; minimal threshold, equalise fixed charge (Kevin)
- get thin silicon on TPX3 from CLIC (Daniel, Martin)
- get 3D on TPX3 (Martin, Kazu)
- Characterise SPIDR TDC
- TCAD simulations (Kevin)
- Timing simulations in AllPixSquared (Daniel)
- Investigate Timepix3 telescope timing (Martin)
- Testbeam preparations (all)
- Picosecond laser (Daniel)
- TCT equipment, e.g. fast amplifiers
- Input / requirements for SPIDR4, e.g. clock stability, tunable clock delay (Martin)
- Proposal for attract
Testbeam measurements
- spatial resolution
- timing resolution
- vs bias
- vs angle
- uniformity
- intra-pixel
- Grazing angle (4 angles 2 degrees from 89 or 88deg, at least one run with 3 thresholds) (during stable beam)
- irradiated vs non-irradiated
- thin vs thick
- timing along column (move DUT vertically w.r.t. telescope)
- 2D scans (angle and HV)
- HV scan (under and overdepleted)
- Threshold (steps 100 electrons) and Ikrum (5, 10, 15) 2Dscan
- Calibration runs: Noise runs, TP, equalisation, 0 degrees (based on cluster size)
- if there is time: Edge/corner data (move around the beam)
- For the 3D sensors do an HV scan at 0 degrees.

Assemblies for testbeam
From CLIC: Advacam sensors (n-in-p) bump-bonded to Timepix3 ASICs with modified bump mask (256 x 256 bumps), optimized for floating guard ring and no guard ring.
See chapter 8 of
